The
unveiling of the Crest-Nut Tree
Sculpture took place during our 25th
Anniversary
Open House Celebration. The funding
for this project was a $3,470.00 grant;
funded in part by the Saratoga Program
for the Arts Funding (SPAF) part of the
Decentralized Program, a regrant program
of the New York State Council on the
Arts, administered by the Saratoga Arts
Council.
Daniel Hart, the well-known local artist
that created our sculpture did an
amazing creation that will be a
permanent structure for all to see. We
are pleased to have seen this funding go
towards such a unique venture for the
entire community to enjoy!
We would like to give the Skidmore Men's
Lacrosse Team a special thank you for
always helping our Center. The men
volunteered their time and strength by
laying sod on the piece of land where
the sculpture was placed.
Giving Back to the Community: What
Skidmore Men’s Lacrosse Team Does Best
To be pillars of the community at an age
where partying is at its’ height; is
what amazes us here at Franklin
Community Center about the Skidmore
Men’s Lacrosse Team. Under the guidance
of head coach Jack Sandler, the
enthusiasm and drive to always help our
Center is unforgettable. One particular
effort from the team that we would like
to make aware to the community of
Saratoga is this: Saratoga Sod donated
sod to our agency and with the female
skeleton staff that we run on; we would
have not been able to install it if it
weren’t for the Skidmore Men’s Lacrosse
Team and Bob Bakken; a dedicated
volunteer at our Center. October 9th was
a school holiday for the men, but all
where with us that day, raking leaves
and laying sod. Franklin Community
Center commends Jack Sandler and the
Skidmore Men’s Lacrosse Team; our agency
would not be as successful as it
currently is if it weren’t for their
continuous dedication. We would like to
thank these Men for always putting our
agency at the top of their priority
list. We will be eternally grateful and
wish the Skidmore Men’s Lacrosse Team a
successful 2009 season!
