So many people came together to
contribute to the success of Hattie’s 8th Annual Mardi
Gras Event to benefit Franklin Community Center; but
Beth and Jasper Alexander and Julie Bonacio certainly
went above and beyond to insure that the Moulin Rouge
was the sensation that it was! Donating so much of their
own time and resources while persuading others to do the
same, Beth and Julie worked tirelessly to organize,
coordinate, decorate and solicit all to make certain
that Franklin Community Center will be able to continue
to provide basic needs and services to our less
fortunate neighbors. Needless to say, this was no small
feat!
It is hard to find the words to express our gratitude to
the people, groups and businesses who contributed to the
event. In a time of economic uncertainty, instead of
pulling back, our community stepped up to show that they
will continue to support our less fortunate families,
knowing that they need our help now more than ever.
These generous donors included: Bread Basket; Empire
Merchants North; Garland Nelson and Soul Session;
Hattie’s Staff; Heather Bohm-Tallman Photography;
Hillary Van Alystyne; Jaime Diaz; Jasper Alexander and
the entire Kitchen Staff at Hattie’s; Joseph Carr of
Joseph Carr Wines; Kristina Krawchuk of KKI Media;
Leslie Valencia of Arthur Murray Dance Studio; Missy
Shorey and Kathy Wren of Shorey PR; Natalie Sillery of
Saratoga Trunk; National Museum of Dance Staff; Paper
Dolls of Saratoga; Ron and Michele Riggi; Sonny and
Julie Bonacio; Scott and Julie Johnson; the 2009
Committee Members; Michael B. Levison and Kevin Smith of
Hidden Gardens; Southern Wines and Spirits; DeCresente
Distributing Company; Debbie Strom of Allerdice Rent-All
and all of our silent auction donors.
In addition to the many generous donations, several
community members also pledged their support by donating
additional funds to our mission-based auction. These
donors included: Ron and Michele Riggi for $2,500; Sonny
and Julie Bonacio for $2,250; Jim LaVigne and Mary Gavin
for $2,000; Thom and Aime Richards for $1,500; Gary and
Nancy DiCrese for $1,500; Jay Rifenbary for $500; Jasper
and Beth Alexander for $250; and Natalie Sillery for
$250.
A very special thanks to Aime Richards and Stewart Hatch
for connecting Beth and Jasper and their Annual Mardi
Gras Event to us and our mission. We are so honored that
so many of our community leaders recognize and support
the importance of the work that we do at our small,
grass roots organization. On behalf of our staff, Board
of Directors and the thousands of individuals that we
serve, we extend a sincere thank you to Beth, Jasper,
Julie and all of the people mentioned above for their
commitment to our community; Franklin Community Center
is truly honored to have been chosen as the
beneficiaries of their generosity.
