Because Franklin
Community Center, Inc. is a private,
non-profit agency, we rely heavily on
fund-raising activities to supplement our
annual budget. Without the contributions
from generous community members, our
efficient and effective programs would not
be possible.

THE GIVING BEAN Fundraiser

We Proudly
Introduce...

For every pound brewed and every
bag sold
Saratoga Coffee Traders will donate a
significant portion of The Giving Bean
proceeds to the Franklin Community Center.
“The
Giving Bean is 100% Organic 100% Fair-Trade
and combines the dry, rich cocoa undertones
of hard bean Nicaraguan (in French Roast)
and the full body of Indonesian Sumatran. It
feels like silk on your palate. Wow!”

“THE FRANKLIN OPEN”
Benefit Golf Tournament
Each year, Franklin Community
Center has hosted an annual golf tournament
at Windy Hills Golf Course in Greenwich,
known as “The
Franklin Open.” Held the
first Saturday in June, the golf tournament
has proven successful, with a growing number
of supporters and a rising total each year.
As the Community
Center’s largest fund-raiser, the golf
tournament is a lot of fun for everyone
involved, including our small
staff and Board of Directors, who work
very hard to make sure we have plenty of
donated raffle prizes and sponsorships in
order to make the event a success. The money
raised at the tournament is essential to
continuing our efficient and effective
services.
If you are looking for a fun way to
help the community
and to brush up your golf game, consider
joining in “The Franklin Open” as a sponsor
or a golfer.

“FRIENDS
OF THE CENTER” Mail Campaign
As Franklin Community Center’s other major
fund-raiser throughout the year, our
“Friends of the Center” mailing is a
convenient way for generous community
supporters to contribute to our programs.
In January, we send more than 450 letters to
residents that have come to hold the Center
close to their hearts. Thanks to the
generosity of these local residents, the
effort yields a successful 40-percent
response rate, making the mailing an
unassuming success.
One of our many goals here at the Center is
to raise awareness of social and economic
problems within our community. As we strive
to make people more aware of the programs we
provide to combat such problems, we hope to
continue gaining support from additional
“Friends of the Center.” It is this
collaboration between our community and our
staff that allows us to provide some relief
to those in need.

COIN DROP
Each May and October,
our Board of Directors
and Center staff participate in a coin
drop on the corners of Lake and East
Avenues. In addition to raising much-needed
funds for Franklin
Community Center’s programs, it’s also a
great way to gather support and spread the
word about the agency. Donations and smiles
from generous passers-by are a nice
confirmation that the Center’s programs are
making a difference.

OPEN HOUSE
September
20th, 2008 will always be a memorable day at
Franklin Community Center. On this Saturday
where the sun beamed bright and autumn was
in the air; employees, board members,
volunteers and clients worked together to
make the Center’s 25th Anniversary
Celebration an unforgettable one. The
community of Saratoga truly supported our
non-profit human service agency and we were
delighted by the turn-out. Saratoga’s
Community Federal Credit Union and Fidelis
Care; sponsors of the Open House; received a
great response from individuals looking for
affordable banking and health care. The
day’s festivities would not have been as
successful if it weren’t for 88.3 The Saint
playing music, The Skidmore Lacrosse Team
dressing up in costumes provided by
Zing-A-Gram Entertainment and The Saratoga
Police Department sponsoring Operation SAFE
CHILD. Each organization showed how
dedicated they are to helping the community
and Franklin Community Center. We
successfully raised awareness about our
agency and approximately $3,000.00 towards
the programs of the Center. We plan
to make this Open House Celebration an
annual event and look forward to providing
basic needs and services to the less
fortunate for another 25 years. We welcome
any feedback the community may have; please
contact our agency at 587-9826.
A special thanks to our sponsors.
