Another Amazing Lift Picnic…

June 19th, 2015

Last night (6/18) was our annual Project Lift Family Picnic and it is one of our favorite nights of the whole year!!!  Our Lift staff, Project Lifters and their families come together for a down home BBQ, fun games and lots of smiles and laughs.  “We have an amazing Project Lift family and value the time we can all spend together” says Family Outreach Educator, Lindsay Welsh.  The children and families from the different schools get to meet and have fun and break bread together. One thing is for sure; our picnic would not be possible without help from our community Lift partners.

Hey Healthy Living Market and Café Saratoga – WOW, again the food donations, the volunteers, the love, the support…we are truly lucky to always have you in our corner.  (For those of you who are not familiar with Healthy Living’s Community Outreach make sure to check out their website – they donate a TON and roll up their shirt sleeves to do the hard work too!)

The Navy staff and students volunteered their time and talents again this year – from doing all of our grilling to leading our kickball game.  They showed up in massive numbers and made set up and clean up a breeze – these individuals are some of the hardest working volunteers we have ever seen!!  Our friends from Informz, Banana Republic (Saratoga) and our longtime AIM volunteers were also there having fun and keeping the massive picnic flowing smoothly.  Add in some thoughtful donations from Primal: Your Local Butcher and Minogue’s Beverage Center and the night was truly a success.  Thank you to everyone and we can’t wait to see our Lift friends again soon!

The New Garden is Up and Growing

June 9th, 2015

On a rainy Friday morning in June we had our two favorite gardeners, Himanee & Jim Gupta-Carlson (our head gardeners), guiding a team of community volunteers on how to plant our newly expanded garden.  Himanee and Jim secured donated plants from Malta Ridge Farm and made sure the garden was packed with veggies that are both easy to grow and easy to prepare.  Keep good thoughts and cross your green thumbs that we have a fantastic garden season!

(fyi – if you find you have extra garden veggies at home, drop them off at our pantry.  We will definitely find good homes for them!)
