Franklin Community Center hosted 7 different corporate volunteer groups during the month of August, and each provided support across a variety of our programs and services.
- We hosted a group of 10 middle and high school students from CAPTAIN Services’ Camp Captain Cares for a full day service project as part of their program. They toured FCC and learned about all of our programs, worked in the Food Pantry Garden with our master gardener volunteer to learn about and practice composting, and helped our Project Lift team launch the brand new Kindness Rock Garden by painting the first batch of rocks.
- 5 employees from Walmart joined us to help move our stock of school supplies from our Food Pantry building to our administrative building at 95 Washington Street and organized and set up the school supplies. Their efforts help set our Student Services team and volunteers up for success to be able to pack hundreds of backpacks for our Project Lift students and students from the general public.
- A group of 11 middle school students and their church leaders from Grace Fellowship stopped by and helped make massive upgrades to our Food Pantry Garden. They painted the backyard fence and cleared out an entire area’s overgrowth from the past year- helping the garden look its best and opening up a new area to utilize!
- We were thrilled to host a group of 10 volunteers from FIFCO USA while they were in town for a work conference for a project of painting our storage garage’s exterior walls and doors and painting the backyard fence at the Food Pantry Garden. Their work gave the garage’s appearance a boost and helped match its exterior to our branding at our other buildings, and they helped us finish the project of painting the backyard fence.
- We also were joined by 2 dedicated individuals, who helped pack school supplies into backpacks for dozens of students in our Project Lift program and from the general Saratoga community. Their work helped ensure local students are able to start off the school year on the right foot!
- 5 employees from Shade Tree Advisors and one other dedicated individual, Tom, volunteered during our Project Lift Back to School Night Event. They assisted our team with carrying out the event by passing out packed backpacks and helping students pick out clothes, shoes, extra supplies, and other fun goodies.
- Our final group of the month included 7 staff members from Saratoga Hilton, who helped give our historic Food Pantry building an upgrade by painting the porch, railings, steps, front door, and front yard fence. Their efforts helped give our most frequented program the care it deserves to look its best for our clients.
