Franklin Community Center’s Project Lift program kicked off the Summer Olympics with an Olympic celebration of their own! Young students from FCC’s Project Lift program gathered at the Arpey Building for Summer Enrichment Night– an evening full of games, crafts, laughs, and quality time. This program aids and supports children with social-emotional issues, providing them with a supportive and inclusive environment to participate in fun and engaging activities.
From the moment the young Olympians arrived, their excitement was palpable. Decked out in colorful summer gear, they eagerly participated in various Olympic-inspired games and activities, like long jump, shotput, ring tosses, and can bowling, that not only entertained but also encouraged teamwork, communication, and emotional growth. They were able to creatively express themselves with crafts, a photo booth and temporary tattoos. These events were meticulously planned to ensure every child could participate fully, regardless of their abilities. The joy on their faces as they crossed the finish line or celebrated a successful throw was truly heartwarming. At the end of the night, their efforts were highlighted in the award ceremony, where everyone received a gold medal, symbolizing their achievements and the friendships they forged throughout the night.
“I’m so glad my daughter had a safe place to spend an evening having fun and socializing,” said one parent. “We love you guys!”
Staff and volunteers played an essential role in the evening’s success. Their enthusiastic support and encouragement created a nurturing atmosphere that allowed the children to feel confident and
valued. The overwhelming positive feedback from both parents and children has inspired us to plan more such events in the future, reinforcing our commitment to fostering an inclusive community where every child can thrive.
