FREE to a Good Home – For Those in Need: Franklin Community Center’s FREE Store

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Now this one caught me by surprise.

Franklin Community Center (FCC) is involved in many aspects of making life better for those living in our community. They have many high-visibility programs to achieve these goals, which are as wide-ranging as combating food insecurity (via it’s pantry) to after-school prevention (Project Lift) that many people are aware of. But, I must admit that until recently, I was not aware that FCC operated a year-round FREE store, located at 101 Washington Street. No questions asked, just drop in.

I decided to check this out in person, so I did what they said to do – I just dropped in during “shopping hours” (Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 am-noon) to see what this was all about. Often times you hear the expression “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” but in this case, it turned out to be better than I imagined…
