Franklin Community Center Brings Holiday Cheer to Over 700 Children with Sponsor-A-Child Program
This holiday season, Franklin Community Center’s annual Sponsor-A-Child program made the holidays brighter for over 700 children in Saratoga County. Thanks to the outpouring of generosity from donors and the tireless efforts of volunteers, children in our community are smiling a little brighter this year. For the first time, parents and guardians were also invited to participate in “shopping days,” giving them the opportunity to handpick gifts for their families in a dignified and joyful environment.
Samantha Porcello, Franklin Community Center’s Student Services Coordinator, expressed deep gratitude to the community. “Your support means the world to us. It’s a true gift, helping children feel joy at this holiday time. We couldn’t do this without our Secret Santas, donors, and sponsors who showed such incredible care for families in need,” she said.
This year’s program also highlighted the power of teamwork, with countless volunteers sorting donations, organizing gifts, and assisting during shopping days. Meg Monthie, Operations & Volunteer Coordinator at Franklin Community Center, reflected on the efforts of the volunteers, saying, “Many hands truly made light work. Our volunteers’ dedication and kindness transformed what could have been an overwhelming task into a heartwarming community effort. We’re so thankful for each person who helped make this season brighter for so many families.”

Applications for the 2024 Holiday Assistance Program are now closed, but Franklin Community Center continues to support families year-round through various programs and services.
