Franklin Community Center Celebrates New Building at Open House
Franklin Community Center has been busy this past year relocating their programmatic and administrative staff to the newly acquired Michael and Stacie Arpey Family Community Center. Only steps away from its 10 Franklin Street location, the organization’s new building provides over 10,000 square feet of individual offices, common areas and large meeting rooms, and ample space to expand their ability to serve more clients.
The purchase of the building was made possible by the support of hundreds of community members and businesses, along with a $1 million donation from Michael and Stacie Arpey of Saratoga Springs. Stacie Arpey sits on the organization’s board of directors and husband Michael Arpey is president of Hunter Point Capital, an independent investment firm. The community center is still raising money, with a goal of raising $3 million to help fund the purchase, remodeling and additional operating expenses of the new building. To support this development, community members are encouraged to spread the word about Franklin’s programs and services, and make a donation directly to the campaign. For more information and to see the list of generous donors who made this possible, visit: www.franklincommunitycenter.org/waystogive/expansion-campaign/.
To celebrate the dedication and opening of the building, Franklin Community Center is hosting an open house on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 between 10AM – 3PM. Staff-led tours are by appointment only and can be made by scheduling with Mary Beth McGarrahan at 518-587-9826 x227. Says Executive Director, Kari Cushing, “It feels great to finally open the doors to the public. We’ve been open to staff and board members since the summer so it’s wonderful to be able to allow our community members to come in and see our new space.”
Franklin Community Center, which was founded in 1983, provides social support services including a food pantry, a free after-school prevention program, affordable housing for low-income individuals, and assistance with furniture, clothing, household needs, school supplies and holiday needs.
